Aiken Symphony Presents La Mer

Maestro Weiss and the Aiken Symphony close the 2023-24 Masterworks season with Debussy’s La Mer, the impressionistic composer’s brilliant depiction of the sea. The program opens with Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3, one of four overtures Beethoven wrote for his sole opera, Fidelio. And the orchestra is joined by bass-baritone and rising star Joseph Parrish for Gustav Mahler’s transcendent Five Songs to Poems by Friedrich Rückert.
