Boyd Pond Park & Observatory

This 30 acre pond with a 300 foot boardwalk is waiting for you to sink a line. A boat ramp is also available to the public free of charge (no gas motors permitted). All SC fishing laws apply to the pond.

Boyd Pond, is a 210 acre Aiken County Park that was the former Savannah River Site’s employee recreation facility. It is heavily wooded creating a very cool canopy with four ballfields, two soccer fields, two miles of hiking trails, over 6 miles of mountain bike trails, six shelters, picnic areas, playgrounds, restrooms in addition to the 30 acre fishing pond.

Bird Watchers are a familiar site at this park. Boyd Pond Park offers a free, self-guided program that combines bird-watching and geocaching. While you are searching for a woodpecker or red tailed hawk, you’ll also have the opportunity to find other treasures in the form of geocaches. Booklets are available at the park office or by calling 803-642-0314.

Boyd Observatory Programs: the First and Third Fridays of each month, weather permitting.  Look up and see the world beyond our own. Boyd Observatory offers great FREE programs. Weekend programs are designed to expose young visitors to the basic science of astronomy. Accomodates up to 12 visitors. Reservations are recommended.
