Formed to provide an opportunity for Aiken County residents to come together to practice and enjoy singing, the primary goal of Aiken Singers is to share the joy of singing throughout our community and to give back through education and scholarship. As an outreach choral ensemble we hope to bring the art of music to our civic and seniors communities, and to other venues throughout our community.
Aiken Singers is proud to be a sponsor of the Diane Haslam Vocal Performance Scholarship Program. This scholastic program is a monetary stipend open to all Aiken, Edgefield, and Barnwell, and Augusta area senior high students interested in studying vocal performance at a college or university. Scholarships are awarded via musical audition, personal interviews, and GPA rankings. Aiken Singers continues to lead in music education through summer workshops and our youth choral programs, Belles Canto and Bellini.
Weekly rehearsals for the Aiken Singers are held at the First Presbyterian Church, Barnwell Street, on Tuesday evenings at 6:45 pm. Auditions are not required for membership but the ability to read music is desired. A membership fee is due at the beginning of each spring and winter semester to cover expenses. More information may be found at our webpage, aikensingers.org, including up-coming concert schedules, performance photographs and performance booking information.
