NOTE: SRS MUSEUM CLOSED FOR UPGRADES

The SRS Museum will be closed to the public for several weeks to accommodate interior restoration of the 1926 Dibble wing of the Museum.  Plaster repair, painting and floor refinishing are necessary to prepare this portion of the Museum for an exciting new exhibit sponsored by the Department of Energy Office of Legacy Management Refurbishment will be conducted by Aiken County and the new exhibit is scheduled for unveiling in late 2019.

The focus of the new exhibit, tentatively titled “6,000 Stories”, is the displacement of families and businesses necessary for construction of the Savannah River Plant in the early 1950’s.  The exhibit will interpret the displacement event and the impact on residents through interpretive stations with illustrated panels and sound domes and a large touch screen.  The exhibit will be both educational and exciting.

Public visits will be rescheduled as construction and installation schedules are developed.  In the meantime, limited visits by small groups may be accommodated at specific dates and times when group safety can be assured.  For information on such visits, contact Carl Fields at ccf149@bellsouth.net or Walt Joseph at qualityprt@aol.com.

When in operation, the SRS Museum is open every first and third Friday and Saturday of the month. Admission is free and we are open to the public.  Guided tours by appointment. Call us at (803) 648-1437 to schedule your group tour.
