Join us on Tues, September 25 at 7:00pm in the Brown Pavilion for a Russian Art Lecture by Asen Kirin, Professor of Art History at the University of Georgia, titled “The American South and the Imperial Court of Saint Petersburg” (and the connection to Aiken, SC)

This lecture explores the historic links between the American South and Russia. The discussion starts with Empress Catherine the Great but the main part of the lecture concentrates on the 19th-century Russian works of art and memorabilia preserved in two prominent Southern families: Henry Middleton and Francis Wilkinson Pickens. (Find out about the Aiken connection.) This lecture is free and open to the public.
