Voices and Votes: Democracy in America is a traveling exhibit of the Smithsonian Institution to be on display at the Aiken County Historical Museum from July 23 through September 3, 2022.

In anticipation of this honor, a Program Committee has worked with partners to assemble 15 different events from late February to early September, to be held free of charge in venues across the community. The exhibit and all programs offer wide-ranging reflections on the storied history of voting rights in America, many with a local focus.

You are invited to participate in this educational celebration. The Calendar of Events includes feature films and documentaries, book talks with nationally recognized authors, symposiums with regional and national panelists, spoken word and visual arts competitions, and even a family festival in downtown Aiken.

We enjoy and cherish this precious right today, thanks to the resolve and sacrifices of citizens before us. This year, through these shared activities, we venerate those courageous Americans.
