Classical Music, Meet Charisma: The Extraordinary Sean Chen

Twenty-seven-year-old Sean Chen, Crystal Winner of the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, has made a name for himself not only because of his exceptional talent but also because of his natural charisma and ability to connect with his audience.   A 2006 Presidential Scholar and the 2013 DeHaan Classical Fellow of the American Pianists Association, he was accepted by MIT and Harvard but opted to attend Juilliard for his Bachelor and Master of Music.  He received his Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music in 2014.

He has been featured on NPR’s “From the Top” and American Public Media’s “Performance Today,” and was named “One to Watch” by International Piano Magazine.  He performs with many prominent orchestras and with esteemed conductors such as Leonard Slatkin.  Sean’s Festival program will include works by Mozart, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, and Ravel.
