This charming town has transformed into a winter wonderland filled with holiday festivals and traditions, and here’s a list of magical things to do in December to get your holiday spirit on! It’s no secret that Aiken is a charming town especially this time of year. Aiken has been named one of the most magical Christmas towns in South Carolina.

Christmas Craft Show - December 1

Featuring over 100 exhibitors from all over the Southeast, this two-day event is a great place to find those unique holiday gifts. And, for the foodies out there, food trucks are available to satisfy your taste buds.

Drive-A-Train at the Depot - December 1-29

Festival of Trees at The Depot - December 1-29

Trees will line the first floor of the Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum from December 1st - December 31st.

Night of 1,000 Lights - December 6

Come downtown to experience luminaries lining the streets of downtown Aiken, as shops stay open late and offer holiday treats, drinks, and music for a festive evening out. This is a free event.

Aiken Community Theatre presents 'Miracle on 34th Street' - December 7-15

Enjoy a feel-good play based upon the Twentieth Century Fox motion picture located in the heart of downtown Aiken!

Christmas Crafts at the Market - December 8 & 15

Do your Christmas shopping at the Aiken County Farmers Market! Christmas is right around the corner and for two special Saturdays we will be inviting local craft vendors to join us for a Christmas Crafts Celebration. Seasonal produce as well as honey and baked goods will be available. Aiken County Farmers Market is Aiken’s place to shop for fresh, local produce.

Aiken Symphony Orchestra presents 'Home for the Holidays' - December 9

The Aiken Symphony Orchestra delights in making this concert an annual tradition for the Aiken community. The afternoon will be filled with all your favorite holiday melodies as well as the added bonus of including two of Aiken’s beloved groups, the Aiken Choral Society and the Aiken Civic Ballet. The Aiken Choral Society, a community chorus, is dedicated to providing the best singing experience to interested and talented singers throughout the Aiken area. Their repertoire is wide - from early music to last year’s hit movie theme.

7th Annual Santa at the Depot - December 15

Come visit with Santa and tell him how good you’ve been this year! Christmas music will be playing, decorations will be up and milk and cookies will be served!

Christmas in Hopelands - December 15-23, & 26

The 27th Annual Christmas in Hopelands event will transform Hopelands in Gardens in Aiken December 15-23, and 26 from 6:00 - 9:30 p.m. Guests can spend time with friends and family as they stroll through Hopelands Gardens, taking in the sights and sounds of the holiday season, while sipping hot cocoa or apple cider. This enchanting walk-through exhibit features over two miles of lighted pathways and illuminated displays. Over 100,000 twinkling lights in the peaceful setting of Hopelands Gardens are a must-see during the holiday season.  

Aiken Civic Ballet presents The Nutcracker - December 22 & 23

The Aiken Civic Ballet presents the 10th anniversary performance of the Nutcracker at the USC Aiken Etherredge Center.
